Purchase Limit at Custom Office:
For tourists who go shopping to Paraguay or Argentina and come back by the international bridges (land), the limit is US$ 300.00. Returning by flight from Asunción or Buenos Aires and landing at the international airport of Foz do Iguassu, the limit is US$ 500.00.
These limits can be used once every 30 (thirty) days, being the limit personal and not transferable. If there are purchases in a shorter period, taxes will be calculated over the total value of the products purchased in the period and not on what exceeded. In the case of products with a value over the limit, it will be needed to pay the taxes that are 50% (fifty per cent) calculated over the value that exceeds the exception.
After shopping and at returning to Brazil, tourists will have to fill at the custom office the application of the Baggage Statement, that will also be available in the Web Site of the Receita Federal, even if the goods are not over US$ 300,00. This application will contain personal data and the content of the baggage, quantity of products, description and value of the goods.
Time:
There is a 1-hour difference in the time zone between Paraguay and Brazil. Argentina’s time zone is the same as of Brazil. However, during our summer time, Argentina will also have a -1-hour difference. Therefore, one must pay attention to commercial operation time in the three countries.

Brazilian travelers
They will be accepted solely and exclusively for border transit in the region of the MERCOSUL the following documents:
- Passport; or
- Identity Card (RG).
They will be accepted as valid documents for transit in border areas, any documents issued in Brazil, even if accepted as identity cards in our country. See the following examples of documents not accepted:
- Birth certificate (not substitute the Identity Card or Passport even for just born or minors);
- Professional cards (OAB, CRM, others);
- Driver’s license;
- CPF;
- Others.
Other situations:
Children also must bear the necessary documents. Under no circumstances the presentation of Identity Card or Passport is exempted, even when being baby and with the Birth Certificate in hand;
When in trips by road transportation, the bus company has as obligation of law to request from the person responsible for the minor, besides the mentioned documents, a special authorization by a Judge, in which there is a license from both parents to the travel and consequent border transit.
Travelers of other nationalities
It will be requested from foreign tourists the presentation of the following documents:
- Passport; or
- Passport with Visa (when requested by the respected national authority).
